El Paso Poker Room, House of Kings Card Club Supports Charities to Heal Communities!
Unsugarcoated Media is excited to announce a new sponsor for the upcoming season of the award-nominated podcast Unsugarcoated with Aalia;
House of Kings Card Club!
House of Kings Card Club is a private-member poker room located in El Paso, Texas. Run by founder Julio Morales and partner Adriana Sanabria, House of Kings (HOK) provides a safe and legal environment for poker with their “no rake” policy, meaning they do not receive any economic benefit from the games played.
“My mission was to create a small business where I can give back to the community” Morales candidly explains.
While sitting down with Unsugarcoated Media, Morales and Sanabria discusses the passion House of Kings has for supporting the El Paso community. HOK accepts all charitable tournaments, many of which come from members who are business owners or have connections to nonprofit organizations. Morales says the biggest blessing has been the ability to bring the poker community together and generate funds for charitable causes.
“They are always asking us if we are a family. Everyone thinks we are all related, all the employees here… just because of how close everybody is. We are always saying we are the HOK family and we truly are, and everybody sees that” Sanabria shares sincerely.
At about 2000 members strong, House of Kings prides itself on its close-knit community.
In 2019, the community of El Paso experienced the tragedy of a mass shooting. Discussing the traumatic event, Morales explains that people were scared to leave their homes, especially in large groups. But HOK provided a safe place for its members, an escape from the trauma. Through the open line of communication provided by HOK, everyone supported and cared for each other and their families. A moment of great distress strengthened the bond of humanity as they all recovered together. This remains true today, even during COVID-19, they all live by the mantra— “El Paso strong.”
Nephew to Unsugarcoated Media’s publicist Ang Amaya, an El Paso native, Morales gets emotional when asked about why he chose to support Unsugarcoated with Aalia: “I love my Tia very much. We support each other, family always comes first.”
Morales stands behind the empowering and real content that Unsugarcoated Media is striving to create. Unsugarcoated Media is proud and honored to be supported by such a wonderful business dedicated to providing to its community.
