Embrace Your Superpower with Actress and Comedian Nazanin Nour
“I feel like if you come at people and say something in a humorous way, and use some sarcasm or satire, it keeps people’s attention and it gives them the knowledge and information, and then can decide on their own, but it gives them a new perspective.”

Our award-winning host, Aalia Lanius, welcomes back the talented and beautiful Iranian-American, Nazanin Nour, to discuss her comedic pursuits and passion for social injustice, which led her to join the entertainment industry in her 20s. When Nour isn’t busy being a judge on Persia’s Got Talent or auditioning for roles in Hollywood, she is a fierce advocate for various political and social causes.
While Nour started her career at an international litigation firm, after realizing her career path was unfulfilling, she grew with flow, and decided to pursue a life-long passion for entertainment instead. And thank god she did! Since then, Nour has appeared in several television shows, including Madam Secretary, Criminal Minds, and Political Animals, as well as in feature films.
In the interview Nour explains candidly what got her into the entertainment industry, and more specifically how she became inspired to become a comedian. “I was a big fan of Saturday night live growing up. Weekend Update was always really funny to me and that style started getting into my head. That style was always really fun to me because if i go to a person and say ‘this is what should happen in the world and I’ll tell you why,’ people will tune you out if they don’t agree with you already, so you’re like in an echo chamber. I don’t want to do that. I feel like if you come at people and say something in a humorous way, and use some sarcasm or satire, it keeps people’s attention and it gives them the knowledge and information, and then can decide on their own, but it gives them a new perspective.”
From the interview, we most definitely realized that Nour is not afraid to share her opinion and speak her mind. She is certainly UNSUGARCOATED. Today, Nour creates content that makes her audience aware of social injustices, primarily through political satire. Last summer, Nour was an active participant in the BLM protests and abroad, Nour also spent her time researching and being outspoken about issues prevalent in Iran.
