“Stepping into our world is like nothing you’ve ever experienced. Richie and I always deliver something wham, bam, some pop, and a load of glitter,” Mister D declares with passion.

In Episode 34, podcast host Aalia Lanius welcomes co-founders of the new virtual beauty platform BEAUTYKWEEN; Richie Rich, a renowned American fashion designer, legendary Club Kid, and pop culture star, and Mister D, celebrity collaborator and beauty brand guru, on Unsugarcoated with Aalia.
With groundbreaking career accomplishments in the fashion and beauty industries, Richie Rich and Mister D have become pop culture icons who are now breaking boundaries with their virtual beauty platform. Described as a site for tweens, teens, and queens, BEAUTYKWEEN is a glamorous platform for everyone who loves makeup, music, and pop culture.
“We are fortunate and blessed that we are at a point in our careers that we can give back. In a way we are not really giving back, we are giving forward,” Mister D humbly states.
The motivation for creating BEAUTYKWEEN came from their desire to create a “glitzy and amazing” experience that lives on the screen. It allows users, who are called Superfans, to connect, collaborate, and rule the world with their personalities. The two have connected with celebrities such as Lady Gaga, who are inspiring the people that Richie and Mister D love and want to be part of the ‘party’ that is BEAUTYKWEEN.
Since a very young age, Richie Rich and Mister D have been confident in who they are and how they express themselves. Coming out of the closet was never a process they felt they had to undertake. The clothes and makeup they wear don’t define them, they just want to feel amazing every day.
“We just knew we wanted to be who we felt we are. Maybe we were told not to be that way, or we didn’t play like we had any ‘rules,’ but we were told we had ‘rules’ and so we broke that barrier,” Richie Rich shares candidly.
The world can be ugly towards people who don’t fit the mold of who they are “supposed” to be. Richie Rich and Mister D have heard stories from people all over the world who have experienced extreme instances of hate because of their gender or sexual identity. The duo aims to empower everyone and encourages being who you are. They are supported in this venture by E! Entertainment co-founder, Larry Namer, an advocate for diversity and inclusion.
“We’re not able to change the world and wave our magic wand, but we are going to try,” Mister D shares.
BEAUTYKWEEN is one of the ways they are trying to change the world. Makeup is freedom; it gives everyone the ability to experiment with self-expression and be whatever they want. It’s all about riding your own wave and building your own world from the resources available today. Mister D shares how thrilled he is to be on Unsugarcoated with Aalia because like Richie and him, Aalia is setting her own path as a trendsetter. The greatest piece of advice that Richie Rich and Mister D offer eccentric youth is “love yourself first” and “always keep dreaming.”
