August 22, 2019, Los Angeles – – Unsugarcoated Media, a nonprofit media organization tailored around encouraging and lifting up resilient leaders who have overcome obstacles and struggles and turned them into triumph and success, announced today that Michael Uslan, originator and executive producer of all the modern Batman films to date, will serve as the keynote speaker of EmpowerCon 2019.
EmpowerCon, an annual collaboration event between Unsugarcoated Media and Reach Out Together(a not-for-profit mental health corporation), will kickoff its inaugural campaign on August 31st inside the Los Angeles Convention Center and feature a diverse lineup of established speakers.
“From the time I acquired the rights to Batman from DC Comics (and I was a kid in my 20’s) until the first dark and serious Batman movie came out, ten long years passed. It was a human endurance contest as we were turned down by every studio in Hollywood. That’s how I learned that you can make your dreams come true if you discover and follow your passion, get up off the couch, knock on doors until your knuckles bleed, and refuse to take ‘no’ as a final answer,” states Michael Uslan. “These are the same principles EmpowerCon embraces.”
“Comics are highly influential in our society today. This is obvious by the billion dollar franchises that have been built. People aren’t just watching for the entertainment, but the positive messages and humanitarian lessons within them,” said Unsugarcoated Media creator Aalia Lanius. “Michael Uslan, has not only had a massive impact on the comic book industry, he has also influenced and paved the way in education, film finance and the creation of iconic content. We are lucky to have him headline EmpowerCon and bring his versatile expertise to our audience.”
From being mentored by Stan Lee to being one of just two individuals to receive producer credits on every Batman film, Uslan has countless experiences to speak on at EmpowerCon. Past speaking arrangements have earned Uslan the recognition of being one of the top-10 commencement addresses of all time at Indiana University by USA Today and one of the top 300 U.S. commencement speeches since 1774 by NPR.
Joining Uslan at EmpowerCon 2019 is a professional myriad of noteworthy entrepreneurs set to speak on their experiences and the importance of keeping up with mental health.
