When Fatherhood Meets Business Drive: How Jason Jimenez and Fredrick Bussey Jr. View Their Lives and Careers
In a time as unprecedented and uncertain as right now, Jason Jimenez and Fredrick Douglas Bussey Jr. sat down with our award-winning host, Aalia Lanius for another amazing episode of UNSUGARCOATED with Aalia to remind us what is important in life and how to think of our lives, specifically in business and family for the BIPOC communities.
Jason Jimenez has had immense success in business, currently serving as the Founder/CEO of Redstone Business Holdings LLC, and details how his childhood under his own father not only taught him that “anything was possible” but gave him the goals that would shape the rest of his life: to have something of his own, to own something with would provide unlimited income, and to provide that is of service to another human being. These three goals, as well as Jimenez’s need to self-express himself, left entrepreneurship as the clear and obvious business course. While Jimenez has changed over the years these truths and goals remain strong and provide a foundation that can weather any circumstance.
Fredrick Douglas Bussey, Founder/CEO of ICON Status, has turned a promising career in the music industry to an incredibly successful enterprise educating and guiding other entrepreneurs to success. With the mantra that “business plans are for banks” Bussey favors “frameworks for how to think” over pre-determined strategy, arming people with the mental fortitude and abilities to adapt to any circumstance. When matched with Bussey’s view of the “connection between being an entrepreneur… and taking your own future into your own hands” an outline into how Bussey has achieved his success and why his words and guidance have become so valued.
Outside of business experience, both men share a personal history of fatherhood. Jimenez and Bussey detail how fatherhood has not only enhanced their own lives, but fundamentally changed the way they view them, especially in regards to business. While intense dedication is needed to create and maintain a business, Bussey and Jimenez both share how entrepreneurial business intersects with family life, what the difference between balancing and prioritizing is, and why it is not only important but necessary to be truly present in both worlds.
While each man has their own story to tell, it is the difference in their professional views and experiences and the similarities in their family views and importance that becomes a powerful lesson in how to build your life.
